Track and Field Performance Standards

Below are links to some files that help answer the question "How good am I?" Each file provides a list of events along with different performances for each event. The performances for each event are then graded in terms of performance quality. The broader or more elite the standard, the better the performance.

  • Track and Field Standards for High School Girls - this list provides standards for all of the typical individual HS events. The highest level standard you can achieve here is the National standard, which tells you that your performance would be very competitive in National level meets. The State level standards imply an ability to do well at basically any meet in Kentucky. The Regional standard corresponds with a high level of competitiveness within the Greater Louisville area (which includes Louisville and adjacent counties), and the Local standard relates to doing fairly well at most meets here in Louisville.

  • Running Event Standards by Age Group - this list provides several running event standards for various (AAU) age groups between 13 and 18 years old. The Elite Standard is equivalent to the National standard above, but the remaining standards (A, B and C) are more like the grades in a class. For a given group, the A standard is a high level performance for that particular age, while the B standard is a very good performance, and the C standard is closer to "good".
